Nous - Sabbatical Project Colloquium Series

As we all know, a sabbatical is an important part of a faculty member’s professional life. It is a time to focus on important research and a time to re-energize through that work. An equally important aspect of a sabbatical is to share this work with colleagues, not only for the purpose of sharing scholarship but also to create new connections among faculty and to provide guidance and inspiration to those who are planning a sabbatical.

Beginning this semester, we are introducing Nous: A Sabbatical Project Colloquium Series. We will be holding one-two sabbatical colloquia per year. Please join your colleagues for the first in this new series with a wine and cheese reception to follow. Presenting their work will be:

Dr. Candace Roberts, Professor of Education and Director of The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence: “Engaging the Brain in Higher Education”

Dr. Marcela Van Olphen, Professor of Spanish and Portuguese: “The Balancing Act of Teaching and Research: A Synergistic Result

Presentations will be recorded and made available for those unable to attend in person.

If you have taken a sabbatical within the last two years and are interested in presenting your sabbatical research for next year’s Nous, please email me.

I hope that you take some time to attend and look forward to seeing you on April 11.
