VoiceThread Site License Expiration

What is Happening?

Our VoiceThread site license will expire in:

On October 15, 2017, Saint Leo University’s site license with VoiceThread will expire, and all university users accessing VoiceThread through the Lions SHARE Courses system will no longer be able to access their university-provided site license VoiceThread accounts.

If you have your own personal VoiceThread account that you manage (non-site-license, non-university-provided), your personal account will be unaffected by this change.

Why is this Happening?

We are Responsible Stewards

With the Saint Leo University Core Value of Responsible Stewardship in mind, we regularly monitor usage of university tools, and regularly assess how much impact those tools are having on our students, faculty and staff.

If you look at the usage of the VoiceThread tool, you will see that it is not having a significant impact on our university learners, so it’s difficult to justify the large cost of a site license, given the sparse usage of the tool.

What is Responsible Stewardship?

Our Creator blesses us with an abundance of resources. We foster a spirit of service to employ our resources for University and community development. We must be resourceful. We must optimize and apply all of the resources of our community to fulfill Saint Leo University’s mission and goals.

What are my Options?

Focus on the Learning, Not the Tool

Educational tools come and go, but if we maintain our focus on learning activities, we can smoothly transition between tools without reducing the impact of our teaching and learning.
